The James Good team is very excited to have been asked by Swansea University to provide coaching in web design to a UK hopeful for the International competition, WorldSkills. We're pleased to be working with UK Skills, the organisation responsible for selecting and developing a team of young people to compete at the bi-ennial International WorldSkills competition - the skills equivalent of the Olympics.

.net magazine, the world’s bestselling magazine for web developers and designers, is launching a new website, developed in Drupal. Our web developers have been using Drupal for some time for most of our web development work, and love the flexibility in design and functionality it allows us to offer our clients. This is a significant vote of confidence for Drupal from a voice of authority - not that we needed confirmation of Drupal's brilliance... obviously!

Let The Force Be With VW

VW’s TV advert for the new Passat is no run-of-the-mill car advert, in fact the car itself is given surprisingly little air time. Cleverly, VW has decided instead to tell a story, using the universally popular Star Wars theme and soundtrack that creates an emotional connection with its broad audience through positive nostalgia and a gentle tug on the heart-strings. The advert was played out in the prime-time slot during the Super Bowl championships in the US earlier this month. This is also proof that investing in the creation of something special and a bit different is worth it.

Android Take a Big Bite of the Apple

Google's Android has become the market leading smart phone operating system, with a market share of over 30%. Android is enjoying a sharp increase in brand awareness and has overtaken Nokia’s Symbian operating system, largely due to uptake from a range of popular smart phone manufacturers such as HTC, Samsung and LC. Symbian, which is only available on Nokia handsets, has seen its market share drop significantly.

Design Week asked me to submit an article for their regular 'Inspired' feature. Staking a claim to a single source of inspiration was a much harder task than anticipated. The process made me realise that I draw huge inspiration from an array of sources and I'm frequently inspired by tiny details and like-minded people.
