What three words best describe you?
Geek, Consciencious, Fun-Loving

What three words would your team use to describe you?
James: Supportive, Dependable, Versatile
Tori: Fastidious, Geeky, Loyal
Kathy: Thoughtful, Obstinate, Courtious
Andy: Genuine, Encyclopedic, Web-wizard!
Rob: Pedantic, Pedantic, Pedantic!

How did you find yourself in the strange world of web development?
I grew up playing around with computers. As a geeky kid, I used to create programmes for Commodore 64 in basic. When I went to university, I studied engineering and discovered I was better at software engineering and programming. I did some websites for friends and then when I finished university I got my first job as a web developer.

Which website do you wish you’d built?
I’d probably have to go with something like Google for its sheer functionality, or something like BBC for its vastness and all the different challenges that would be in it. BBC does everything from streaming video to constantly updating the latest news. Also there’s content aimed at so many different people - from recipes on BBC food to blog entries for the Radio 1 DJs. It's a really big and varied project, that they’ve obviously put a lot of time and effort into.

What are the toughest challenges you face in your job?
Working with James! No, can’t say that. I quite enjoy the challenges in my job. Clients come with ideas that they want built that have often never been done before - that’s always a challenge and I take pleasure in getting stuck in and trying to solve the problems that nobody’s solved before, from scratch, without any starting point.

Any exciting plans for 2011?
I’m going to start the year in New Zealand. Obviously continuing with James Good Limited and continuing to help the business grow, and with the office move, it should be a good year for James Good Limited. There are also a couple of new and challenging projects on the horizon, there’s one particular meaty website that I can’t wait to get my teeth stuck into!

Most exciting piece of tech to emerge this year?
I’m going to have to go for tablet PCs, I think they’re good fun. I’ve ordered my Android and I'm looking forward to travelling with it. It’s something a bit different, the kid in me quite likes it, it’s a bit sci-fi to have something that you can just tap away at. Developments in smart phones are also really exciting.

What’s on your Christmas list?
There’s nothing on my Christmas list because I’m not going to be here.

Father Christmas travels to New Zealand - What happened to the kid in you?
Things that would be on there if I hadn’t just bought myself one would be a tablet... possibly some Nerf guns, car stuff...

What makes you really angry?
I’m not an angry person, I never get really angry... I can’t say clients (ha ha). I could say clients! People who come to us for advice and then ignore it. I’m just not an angry person. If I had to say anything it would probably be bad drivers.

Where can you usually be found outside of work hours?
Sat in front of my PC at home or my xbox - it’s sad.

Biggest achievement of your life so far?
I developed a custom Content Management System from scratch for my previous employer, something that was utilised in the majority of student union websites across the nation. I also built my own guitar from scratch that I'm really proud of.

Do you ever play your guitar?
Not as often as I should. I have 5 guitars at home and I never play any of them.

Because you’re too busy with your xbox?
Yep.
