Winner of Best Brand Design / The Best of Welsh Design Awards / October 2010.

Seren is a traditional Welsh publisher based in Bridgend. They specialise in publishing poetry and literature with a Welsh connection, either written by the Welsh or heavily featuring Wales.

As a small independent publisher, Seren required a confident identity that would allow them to compete with their larger competition, step into the international marketplace and improve their brand awareness in the rest of the UK and America.

Cardiff Design Festival Winner 2010

James Good Limited won the award for Best Brand Design at The Best of Welsh Design Awards in October. The awards, organised by Cardiff Design Festival, recognise the skill and passion of designers and design thinkers across Wales.

We’re feeling pretty pleased with ourselves for bringing the award to Swansea, finally some recognition that creative talent does exist west of Cardiff!

Seren Books E-Commerce Website

The Seren Books e-commerce website is a catalogue and online shop for over 500 books on sale from Wales’ leading literary publisher.

In order to draw attention to new products, they are promoted to the website homepage. Visitors can easily browse or search the entire catalogue, adding products to their shopping cart as they go along. The full cost of the product is displayed alongside the automatically calculated discounted book club member’s price, encouraging visitors to sign up to the publisher’s loyalty scheme before making their purchase.

The search facility allows users to search the entire site by author, book title, subject matter, or any search term they want. Results are displayed in order of relevance, and filtered by content type - books, authors, news, blog or press.

Other value-adding features that encourage visitors to stick around, make purchases and visit regularly include an information page on each author, with reciprocal links to associated books, a similar products feature, where other books that might be of interest to the visitor are displayed on each product page, videos of Seren authors in action and a blog authored by Seren staff and authors on all things literary.

Seren are competing with the likes of Amazon in the online sale of books. In order to keep up with the features found on more established sites, we’ve created their very own animated extract facility, which allows visitors to view extracts from books before they buy. Our turning page animation is a whole lot snazzier than Amazon’s solution!
