Roundhouse Identity Design
Nominated for Best Brand Design / The Best of Welsh Design Awards / October 2010.
The two founding partners of Roundhouse Construction approached James Good Limited early in 2010 in need of a brand identity for their new business.
Having extensive experience and related academic qualifications in the field of construction and project management, Robert Griffiths and Richard James had decided to fill a gap they had identified in the local market for a reliable and trustworthy construction company with qualified and experienced staff.
Roundhouse Construction’s brand identity would be the visual representation and personification of everything that the business stands for and the products and services it provides. The identity would be working hard to communicate Roundhouse Construction’s values, which, during extensive discussions with Robert and Richard, were identified as: professional, experienced, trustworthy, knowledgable, approachable and reliable. The the most important point to communicate was the business’ competitive edge - their professionalism and efficiency.
The identity needed to appeal to Roundhouse Construction’s two target markets: businesses and private individuals in need of building work. It was also important for the identity to convey a sense of approachability - the partners were keen to undertake small maintenance style jobs as well as larger construction projects such as renovations and extensions. The identity needed to have a corporate feel to catch the attention of business decision makers, whilst not alienating private customers.
Our designers had their work cut out in the creation of a fit for purpose logo. In addition to meeting the criteria outlined above, the branding needed to be bold enough to be used on company vehicles, whilst remaining suitable for use on small items - communications materials such as letterheads and business cards. In order to further convey a sense of professionalism, Roundhouse Construction was also keen for their logo to be printed on staff uniforms. Versatility was a key consideration to the design process.
Roundhouse Construction are doing well in their first year of business, having established a reputation for reliability and flexibility amongst their clients. The company has since become the only achieved Chartered construction company in their local area, awarded by the Institute of Building’s Chartered Building Company Scheme.
